Hedreich Nichols

Coming Closer…

Bill Clinton wasn’t in his home state of Arkansas this past weekend but Hedreich was. She joined Barbara Tucker and a Chosen Few to celebrate Gospel Music Heritage month at Goddard UMC. Goddard, in turn, was commemorating 20 years of lauding the Negro Spiritual. Not only was it an evening of excellent music, it was a glorious example of Martin Luther King’s dream.

This week will see Hedreich in the Studio finishing up some compositions before shipping off to Switzerland for the concert season. Drop back by for scheduling updates soon. We’ll keep a light on for ya!

Here, There and Everywhere

If the paparazzi photographed inside cover music industry appearances, Hedreich– primarily known as a singer and a teacher– would grace the cover of quite a few rags this year. Of course you know her lyric and cover writing from her own Time Now but this year she also helped out on Nubya’s newly released Today and Miracle Flair’s Inner Peace of Mind. Even Tanja Dankner’s Somewhere got a friendly once-over. But just in case you think she’s left the stage and studios for a new career, no worries. Hedreich can be heard on the Gölä and the Bellamy Brothers’ 2010 release that just went double platinum! Give it a listen. And check back soon for Hedreich’s upcoming concert dates. We’ll leave a light on for ya!

Back to School

August is always the time of year when summer slowly fades into fall and children all over the world deck the halls and classrooms once more. Not only will Hedreich be one of the classroom desk “deckers” this year, she will also be volunteering, teaching in her own pilot after-school music program. “Let’s Sing!” is a sing-along music class designed for people of all ages to get together and, well, sing. Nothing fancy, just 50 minutes of connecting with people and doing what she loves!

And while we’re looking forward, let’s also look back. Remember “Paint Your Blues”, Hedreich’s interdisciplinary project at Leutschen Middle School with art teacher Barbara Ramer? Well it was amazing and we finally got you a visual.

Enjoy and drop back by soon.

Hands-on Thankfulness

As you have read here on hedreich.com, our favorite performer will be focusing on one of her favorite things this year–education. Hedreich is volunteering with young people in underserved communities doing what she does best–singing and encouraging people. It’s a side that may not be seen from the stage but one her students know well. Being “hands-on-thankful” is what she calls it. Hedreich and the children will be working together over the months to come, building a musical program that will allow young voices to be heard. Stop back by for progress reports. We’ll keep a light on for ya!

Coming to a venue near you…

Sound exciting? It is! Listen out for new news centering on composing, producing and education. Stop by soon. We’ll keep a light on for ya!

Quiet On The Set

You may notice that all’s pretty quiet in Hedreich’s virtual world. At the moment the watchword is writing. As previously stated, education will also be moving into the foreground. What does it all add up to? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see. But knowing Hedreich, something good is waitin’ ’round the bend!

“Legändä und Heldä” (Legends and Heroes)

After all the excitement of working on the 2011 Bligg tour as well as performing at the Swiss Music Awards, I decided to write a personal letter of praise to the real legends and heroes of the music scene. It’s been a while since I’ve worked with such a well oiled machine. This personable, well-organized crew takes care of stage, sound, lights, wardrobe, catering and a million little details just so we can concentrate on giving you a good show. No canteen minced meat and noodles for our dinner. We are spoiled with fresh cut veggies, succulent fruit, plus red, white AND sparkling. And that’s before dinner. On stage, my bottled water is pre-opened so I don’t strain a hand popping that plastic safety tab. Even at the SMAs our team came in with hands-on, helpful ideas for the green room, the only motivation–to make the musicians’ 14 hour day more comfortable. If you want tour or Swiss Music Awards highlights, check Google or youtube to see me having a blast with Bligg and the band. But when you do, remember that the glamour, glitz and great music are all possible because of the real legends and heroes.

Shout out to the Bligg BAH team. You’re the best!
Sincerely,
Hedreich

B is for…

…Bligg AKA Marco Bliggensdorfer, Swiss rapper extraordinaire! Hedreich initially turned down the tour because of commitments with Art on Ice, but she got an emergency call from Bligg’s team after they completed the first concerts with a good singer who wasn’t quite as good a fit as hoped. So, while finishing up the Art on Ice tour, Hedreich started working on music and lyrics for this year’s Swiss Music Awards’ “Best Urban Album” nominee (vote here). No one at Hedreich’s debut performances in Basel and Chur could have ever guessed: She got the material only two days before the first performance! The audiences showed their appreciation– she was amazing! And just think, she’s still got room to grow!

A for Art on Ice…

After all was said and done and the last curtain went down, Art on Ice 2011 was absolutely amazing. Hedreich’s choir, the Glarner Inspirational Singers, were on stage to open this year’s performance (pictured). They also sang with Katherine Jenkins plus got rave reviews as the Steve Sidwell SFX choir. In addition to wearing more hats than anyone else in the production–which was exhausting–Hedreich, along with Rhonda Dorsey and Corinne Gfeller, made up the background trio for Donna Summer in the second half of the show. What a great foursome. If you missed Donna, be sure to catch her on youtube or SF. She looks and sounds incredible!

With all that, sounds like our favorite divalina will be taking a break…right? Wrong. B is for…
