Hedreich

The Ultimate Commute

Talk about hitting the ground running! After the overseas flight on Thursday, Hedreich is already on the job. This weekend finds her doing a “Repertoire Intensive” seminar with Sweet ‘n’ Sour for their Swing ‘n’ Soul concert. The concert, coming up on the 12th and 13th of this month will also feature choreography by Hedreich. She and the “Sweeties”, under the direction of Ulrich Wolf, have worked together for many years and the concert will be one of the better ones in the region this season. Don’t miss it!

Here, There and Everywhere

If the paparazzi photographed inside cover music industry appearances, Hedreich– primarily known as a singer and a teacher– would grace the cover of quite a few rags this year. Of course you know her lyric and cover writing from her own Time Now but this year she also helped out on Nubya’s newly released Today and Miracle Flair’s Inner Peace of Mind. Even Tanja Dankner’s Somewhere got a friendly once-over. But just in case you think she’s left the stage and studios for a new career, no worries. Hedreich can be heard on the Gölä and the Bellamy Brothers’ 2010 release that just went double platinum! Give it a listen. And check back soon for Hedreich’s upcoming concert dates. We’ll leave a light on for ya!

Back to School

August is always the time of year when summer slowly fades into fall and children all over the world deck the halls and classrooms once more. Not only will Hedreich be one of the classroom desk “deckers” this year, she will also be volunteering, teaching in her own pilot after-school music program. “Let’s Sing!” is a sing-along music class designed for people of all ages to get together and, well, sing. Nothing fancy, just 50 minutes of connecting with people and doing what she loves!

And while we’re looking forward, let’s also look back. Remember “Paint Your Blues”, Hedreich’s interdisciplinary project at Leutschen Middle School with art teacher Barbara Ramer? Well it was amazing and we finally got you a visual.

Enjoy and drop back by soon.

Quiet On The Set

You may notice that all’s pretty quiet in Hedreich’s virtual world. At the moment the watchword is writing. As previously stated, education will also be moving into the foreground. What does it all add up to? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see. But knowing Hedreich, something good is waitin’ ’round the bend!

B is for…

…Bligg AKA Marco Bliggensdorfer, Swiss rapper extraordinaire! Hedreich initially turned down the tour because of commitments with Art on Ice, but she got an emergency call from Bligg’s team after they completed the first concerts with a good singer who wasn’t quite as good a fit as hoped. So, while finishing up the Art on Ice tour, Hedreich started working on music and lyrics for this year’s Swiss Music Awards’ “Best Urban Album” nominee (vote here). No one at Hedreich’s debut performances in Basel and Chur could have ever guessed: She got the material only two days before the first performance! The audiences showed their appreciation– she was amazing! And just think, she’s still got room to grow!

“A voice with POWER”

According to the Zürichseezeitung (Lake Zurich News) the audience almost refused to let Hedreich leave the stage! This year’s BMBeautiful concert with guest soloist Hedreich Nichols and MC Linda Fäh (Miss Schweiz 2009) was a concert that will be well remembered by all for years to come. And be on the lookout for Linda. According to Hedreich she’s quite the singer as well and we can expect to be seeing more of her in the coming year.
This week, all eyes are on the ice as Hedreich’s choir the Inspirational Singers prepares for their performance at Art on Ice 2011. Their work together with Steve Sidwell will be a real show stopper. Hope to see you there!

“Song About…” and songs about…

While the new “Song About…” video is gaining popularity on youtube, Hedreich is spending every available moment composing songs about other things as well. Collaborating with Nubya for her upcoming project is turning up gold and you can look forward to getting an accoustic taste in the not too far off future. Additionally, Hedreich found herself teaming up with an unlikely writing partner, her 6 year old son. After his cameo vocal on Time Now’s “Sing My Song”, he has morphed into a junior songwriter. Let’s see whose album this song turns up on. Check back soon for details or stay up-to-the-minute current at twitter and facebook.

Overture-The Opening

Overture comes from the French word meaning opening–and a grand opening it was! Idyllic Southern Glarus is officially “on the map” and to celebrate this momentous occasion the comission put together a musical program extraordinaire– The Keiser Twins with Polo Hofer and Hedreich Nichols. One of the top bands in the country, the 10 piece musical delight offered something for everybody–and there were alot of everybodies on hand for the celebration! From Salvo and Köbi Kamm to Polo Hofer, the music was diverse, exciting, international and simply brilliant. Lilly Martin kept the party going all night and Hedreich was in her element with a definite home field advantage. She dazzled the crowd with world class performances including “Bring it on Home” with Polo and “Toxic” from Time Now. If the new structure works out half as well as the evening’s festivities did, Southern Glarus will be truly an idyll.

Pure Magic

Incredible weather and surprisingly authentic Creole and soul food set the stage for the Time Now Release concert and party. Hedreich and the Boyz played a better game than Uruguay or France and rocked the full house. Hedreich was her usual earthy, charming self, amusing the audience between songs with “making of” anecdotes. Jost Müller on Cajon, Matthias Urech on Guitar and Greg Galli on Piano carried Hedreich’s vocals with tenderness and fire giving her the chance to sing her songs, raw, groovy, soulful. The result was pure magic.

What could be more fun than a CD Release party? How about the first video shoot?! Come back in a few days to find out all about the filming of “Song About…” at the Glarus Mitte Living Room
