After a longer than usual hiatus, Hedreich returned to Switzerland for the famed Casa Cleo music party. Guschti Schönbächler, with his usual flair, put together a group of Switzerland’s finest musicians for a fete extraordinaire in the Seedam Plaza. After facing down some health challenges, Hedreich was in rare form and had a ball singing not only her pieces but also joining in on several duets and group numbers. She even reprised her 2009 Art on Ice rendition of  “Listen” by special request. Word on the street is, the party will be repeated in 2 years. Now ain’t-a that good news!

Speaking of good news, we’d like to congratulate one of Hedreich.com’s very own. From tomorrow on, if you’re flying Swiss Airlines , you will hear the music mix put together by our own German news content writer, Simon Gisler. This all-arounder keeps expanding his horizons and we’re thankful that he’s a part of our team!

B is for…

…Bligg AKA Marco Bliggensdorfer, Swiss rapper extraordinaire! Hedreich initially turned down the tour because of commitments with Art on Ice, but she got an emergency call from Bligg’s team after they completed the first concerts with a good singer who wasn’t quite as good a fit as hoped. So, while finishing up the Art on Ice tour, Hedreich started working on music and lyrics for this year’s Swiss Music Awards’ “Best Urban Album” nominee (vote here). No one at Hedreich’s debut performances in Basel and Chur could have ever guessed: She got the material only two days before the first performance! The audiences showed their appreciation– she was amazing! And just think, she’s still got room to grow!

A for Art on Ice…

After all was said and done and the last curtain went down, Art on Ice 2011 was absolutely amazing. Hedreich’s choir, the Glarner Inspirational Singers, were on stage to open this year’s performance (pictured). They also sang with Katherine Jenkins plus got rave reviews as the Steve Sidwell SFX choir. In addition to wearing more hats than anyone else in the production–which was exhausting–Hedreich, along with Rhonda Dorsey and Corinne Gfeller, made up the background trio for Donna Summer in the second half of the show. What a great foursome. If you missed Donna, be sure to catch her on youtube or SF. She looks and sounds incredible!

With all that, sounds like our favorite divalina will be taking a break…right? Wrong. B is for…

She Works Hard for the Money

Truer words were never spoken for Hedreich at this year’s Art on Ice. She organized and rehearsed the choir, directed them for the opening song, sang in the trio in the opening medley (that was her in the beautiful Sari)while directing the choir, sang in Steve Sidwell’s Special FX choir (the Glarner Inspirational Singers and friends), sang with them for 2 Katherine Jenkins’ numbers, sang Background for the 2 Gary Scott songs, and was the ‘uninvited’ shadow walking across the stage on Coco’s “Uninvited”, as well as one of the invited vocalists on “Objection”. And if that wasn’t enough, she was one of three vocalists for this year’s headliner, Donna Summer. Oh, and she put in a stellar performance at the after -show party, first solo, and then with the Choir and Stèphane Lambiel! No wonder Hedreich’s son had no problem singing “She Works Hard for the Money” To “Auntie Donna” after Sunday’s Matinee!!

Endings, Beginnings

As always, once winter blows in, the time just seems to fly by. With two smashing standing room only Glarner Inspirational Singer concerts already past, the planning for the new year has already begun. The Inspirational Singers will be appearing in part as the Art on Ice chorale and have already met with Soundscape guru Steve Sidwell (Robbie Williams, Katherine Jenkins) to get the ball rolling.
And as this year races to a close, Hedreich is practicing for weekly concerts like Bern’s Kornhauskeller concert with Nachtfieber, as well as preparing to host one of New York City’s finest pianists, Etienne Lytle (Three Mo Tenors, Freddy Jackson), who will accompany her for a couple of prestigious, private holiday events. Be sure to check out the calendar to see if there’s an event near you!

Time Now, Art on Ice And More

“So Hot” was song and sound at this year’s Art on Ice VIP parties. The Gary Scott Band kept the party going with Gary augmenting the performance of his 8 piece ensemble by inviting stellar singers and musicians on stage to play with his dream team. GSB even played Toxic, the first cut from “Time Now” which has been selling steadily over hedreich.com. Toward Summer Hedreich’s fans can look for broader distribution in Switzerland and possibly abroad.

As things begin to thaw, our vocal all-arounder is on the move playing musical chameleon as only she can. Some Jazz at a ball or two, Das Zelt with Phil Dankner, 2 seminars plus music from Time Now with her band “The Boyz” will be keeping fans entertained while keeping her musically tuned and in tune! Check out the calendar to catch her doing her thing live at a venue near you.

The third in the series Power in Our Heart went off without a hitch and the Choir even tried out some new choreography. It was groovy and touching all at once. This week it’s all about getting ready for next week in the studio. First coaching for Gölä’s new project, then his background vocals. After that Hedreich’s version of “Listen” goes to wax–or at least plastic. Stop back by soon to see how everything goes…

Art On Ice is History

Well folks, Art on Ice 2009 is now officially over. If you were one of the 75,000 people saw it live, you were lucky enough to experience true magic. Swiss TV 1’s production was an excellent cross-section of the production’s highlights. And Hedreich’s “Listen” with Shizuka Arakawa was one of the show’s finest moments. In case you missed it on February 7th, it will be repeated (for the nighthawks) on Sunday February 8th at 1:15AM and Wednesday 1:45 in the afternoon. And if you miss it altogether Chiratbella will be singing again this month during Musicstar!! picture: Phillippe Jung
