Happy August 1st, Switzerland!

As the fourth of July is to the Americans, so is the first of August to the Swiss. For our working musician, this “erst – auguscht” will be a working holiday. However, in keeping with the patriotic theme, spending at least a part of the day singing with a Berner, a Solothurnerin and a Zürcher should move Hedreich one step closer to being accent free. Overture-The Opening

Overture comes from the French word meaning opening–and a grand opening it was! Idyllic Southern Glarus is officially “on the map” and to celebrate this momentous occasion the comission put together a musical program extraordinaire– The Keiser Twins with Polo Hofer and Hedreich Nichols. One of the top bands in the country, the 10 piece musical delight offered something for everybody–and there were alot of everybodies on hand for the celebration! From Salvo and Köbi Kamm to Polo Hofer, the music was diverse, exciting, international and simply brilliant. Lilly Martin kept the party going all night and Hedreich was in her element with a definite home field advantage. She dazzled the crowd with world class performances including “Bring it on Home” with Polo and “Toxic” from Time Now. If the new structure works out half as well as the evening’s festivities did, Southern Glarus will be truly an idyll.

Summer has finally reached Switzerland and with it Hedreich’s Youtube chanel. Facebook friends have already gotten a taste of what’s to come and within a few days you’ll be able to see Hedreich perform “live” in a myriad of settings, including in her new clip “Song About…”. Of course if you want to see her live without digital translation, you can come out to Glarus this Saturday for “Overture”, the launching of the new cantonal political structure with a bombastic anacrusis featuring Hedreich, Polo Hofer, the Keiser Twins and a host of other Swiss music greats.

Pure Magic

Incredible weather and surprisingly authentic Creole and soul food set the stage for the Time Now Release concert and party. Hedreich and the Boyz played a better game than Uruguay or France and rocked the full house. Hedreich was her usual earthy, charming self, amusing the audience between songs with “making of” anecdotes. Jost Müller on Cajon, Matthias Urech on Guitar and Greg Galli on Piano carried Hedreich’s vocals with tenderness and fire giving her the chance to sing her songs, raw, groovy, soulful. The result was pure magic.

As if that isn’t enough excitement, Friday in Chatel St. Denis was the Swiss Army Concert Band’s 2010 season opener and a worthy start it was! Hedreich was in her element as she added the feminine shine to the world class military orchestra with songs like “Everybody Loves A Lover” , “What Now My Love” and the signature “Listen” which you’ll remember from Art on Ice 2009.

The American Hobby Glarner greets Bern

While Capital FM’s Nik Eugster is a great guy, he had nothing to do with our artist’s radio interview. If you were listening to 97.7 in Bern last week you heard her on the Simon Stalder Show singing
a Swiss-German “Bond hymn” that she had to compose on the spot with Simon looking over her shoulder. The resulting tribute was well recieved by listeners, but word on the street is that there could be some form of revenge on the delightful host Simon…
After the musical warm-up on Capital FM, Hedreich introduced songs from Time Now at Bern’s du Nord. The Groove Factory band manufactured some SERIOUS grooves and by the end of the evening people were coming in off the streets to join the party!
